Jesse Billauer to Speak at 2010 "Food for Thought" Luncheon

JesseBillauer.jpgSurfer Jesse Billauer has been hitting the waves competitively since he was 11 years old. That is just the beginning in a life of ups and downs.

Join us on Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel and hear how Jesse came to found "Life Rolls On," a non-profit foundation.

The "Food for Thought" Program gives high school juniors and seniors a chance to talk about their post-high school plans with successful business and community leaders. The 200 students invited each year to the Luncheon are guests of the Garden Grove Community Foundation.

The program features a guest speaker sharing motivational life lessons with the teenagers. The event was founded as a way to encourage local youth to achieve their personal best. To support this effort, sponsor a student for just $20, attend the Luncheon, or do both. For reservations or more information, please call (714) 741-5280.

A Drop in the Bucket

All Garden Grove residents can now support the Garden Grove Community Foundation (GGCF) by having a pre-designated line item added to their water bill. Donating through your water bill will help continue Foundation programs such as the popular Summer Concert Series and the inspirational Food for Thought Luncheon. This is a great way to give back to your community and enhance the quality of life in Garden Grove.

About the Garden Grove Community Foundation

ggcf-clock.jpgIn 1998, members of the Garden Grove City Council, community, and business leaders came together with a common goal: to create an organization that would enhance the quality of life for Garden Grove residents and businesses. Out of their efforts came the Garden Grove Community Foundation (GGCF). Founded as a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization, the Foundation helped to create a better image of Garden Grove, regionally, showcasing this community’s unique features, its diversity, and economic progress.

The founding Board Members for the GGCF worked to lay the groundwork for a program to support the mission and goals of the organization.

The program, originally named Renaissance
Garden Grove, provided free summer concerts and Food for Thought programs to the community. In 2005, the Renaissance Garden Grove name was replaced with the GGCF name to avoid confusion and establish a permanent identity in the community.
